Validate Your Pain. We don’t hear that everyday, especially when we’re going through something that contains pain, either emotional or physical. We usually hear, “be strong,” “it can’t be that bad,” or “you’ll have to learn to live with it.”
I found an article that resonates so clearly with my experience, that acknowledging the pain is the very first step to getting through it. True, it’s been said that we attract what we spend the most time thinking about, even if we’re trying to think of a way to avoid it. But, the more we ignore pain the more it refuses to go away. When we try to “tough it out,” pain doesn’t just go away like a rejected friend, it takes up residence and it’s not the ideal roommate.
